As Idaho’s leading academic research library, we shall support and encourage scholarly and creative activity throughout the university and state by actively participating in the global information network to bring the best of the world to Idaho and present the best of Idaho to the world. Progressive, professional stewardship shall guide the growth of research collections and information resources to allow the pursuit of knowledge in the finest traditions of academic and intellectual freedom.

Mission for the University of Idaho Library

To ensure the success of the University’s teaching, scholarship, and research roles, the library:

• Collaborates with university and external partners in selecting, acquiring, analyzing, and evaluating information resources to create access to history and knowledge in areas relevant to the university’s role and mission;
• Provides the instruction and expertise needed to find, evaluate, and use resources effectively for teaching and learning, scholarship and creative activity, and outreach and engagement; and
• Maintains physical facilities and online platforms to support a variety of learning styles and user needs.
