Message from Interim Law Dean Michael Satz

Michael SatzI am excited to start my term as Interim Dean and I look forward to working with our outstanding faculty, staff, students, and with our tremendous alumni at the College of Law as we move the college in exciting new directions.  While my name may be new to some of you, I have been a member of the faculty at the College since 2006 teaching critical legal studies and various commercial law subjects.  Additionally, this past year I served as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.

The College is in a time of great transition that also provides great opportunities to continue the work at the College of Law led so successfully by Dean Don Burnett during his tenure as dean to deliver legal education statewide and to strengthen and support the work of our faculty and staff in Moscow and Boise. There is much work to be done in steering the College towards a bright future. My goals include assessing our curriculum to make sure students receive the training necessary to become successful members of the legal community, enhancing the College of Law’s presence in the Treasure Valley, and ensuring that our graduates are meeting the legal needs of Idaho and its citizens – needs that are evidenced by the Legal Needs Assessment commissioned by the College of Law and described in more detail below.

I am very much looking forward to meeting with our wonderful alumni, donors, and friends during my time as interim dean.  Watch your mail and email for “Meet Dean Satz” events in your communities over the coming months.

- Mike Satz
