Locate
a copy of the article by searching the U of Idaho Library Journal List
| The article databases
are separate from the University of Idaho Library collections. We don't
own all the articles listed. If you only have an article citation, you need to see: Does
the UI Library own it? IF NOT, order it from Interlibrary
Loan. |
Does the UI Library have the
article?
- Exit the article database and go to the UI Library Current
Journal List. NOTE: The journal list only includes
periodicals we are currently getting. If we stopped subscribing, but still
have older issues, the magazine won't be listed. The journal list also
does not tell you what years we own. For the most complete information,
use the UI Catalog.
- Find the periodical
title (not the article title) which is often found listed after the
"Source" or "SO" in the citation.
- Example citation
from Ebsco Masterfile Premier
Title: KEEP A DIARY, REAP COGNITIVE REWARDS.
Source: Psychology Today, Mar/Apr2002, Vol. 35 Issue 2, p28, 1/4p
Author(s): Adams, Julie
- Click on the beginning letter of your periodical title.
- Scroll until you see the title you are looking for.

|
- Explanation of the list:
The first three listings of Psychology Today indicate that some of the articles
from that magazine can be found in full text in the databases Ebsco Masterfile
Premier, Expanded Academic Index ASAP and General Reference Center. The
links take you to the search screen for those databases.
PSYCHOLOGY TODAY indicates we have a current print subscription in the UI
Library, with bound (older) issues found at call number Per BF1.P9.
- Recent issues will be found on the Current issues shelves on the 2nd floor
alphabetical by title.
- If the article is more than a few months old, try the bound issues shelved
by call number on the 2nd floor. In this example, back issues (bound) of
Psychology Today can be found on the 2nd floor at call number Per BF1.P9.
Look on the floor directory to locate the section where the B periodicals are
shelved. NIC refers to North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene. Very
old issues of some periodicals may be in book storage and should be requested at
the Periodicals Service Center (2nd floor) or the Circulation Desk (1st floor).
If you cannot find a periodical on 2nd floor, ask at the Periodical Service
Center or Information/Reference Desk.
- Electronic periodicals: If the listing has a link and a call number
beginning with "Internet" (see example above), then the UI has
electronic access to the periodical. Click on the link to go to the
periodical online.

|
- Another way to check if we own a periodical is to search the UI
Library catalog
