Proquest Dissertations and Theses Full Text (PQDT) Now Available

January 5, 2012

The University of Idaho Library now subscribes to Proquest Dissertations and Theses Full Text. This provides U-Idaho students, staff and faculty the ability to view the full text in PDF of doctoral dissertations and masters theses from colleges and universities throughout the United States.

Description:

"PQDT-Full Text includes millions of searchable citations to dissertations and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present, together with over a million full text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format. The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and strong retrospective full text coverage for older graduate works. Each dissertation published since July 1980 includes a 350-word abstract written by the author. Master"s theses published since 1988 include 150-word abstracts. Simple bibliographic citations are available for dissertations dating from 1637. Where available, PQDT-Full Text provides 24-page previews of dissertations and theses."

Nearly all U-Idaho dissertations and theses, unless specifically restricted by the author, will continue to be available full text to the U-Idaho community. Any documents not accessible are usually available through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). The loaning library will determine whether or not the document is available for loan in each case.

This database is functional with Zotero, Endnote and Mendeley citation management systems.
