African American Read-In Hosted by the Library

February 2, 2012

The 23rd annual National African American Read-In will take place on Wednesday, February 8 on the University of Idaho Librarys first floor from 11am to 1pm. Schools, libraries and other community organizations around the country have taken part in the program for two decades. This is the third time the library has hosted this lively and inspiring event, in which anyone in the community can participate by signing up to read for 3-5 minutes from the work of an African American author whose work they enjoy, whether a novelist, playwright, poet, activist, journalist or public figure. Several anthologies of African American literature are available for three-day checkout at the librarys reserve desk.

The Read-In is being co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Department of English, the University of Idaho Library and the Black Student Association. To sign up for a reading slot, email oma@uidaho.edu.
