Reference is one of the departments that provides front-line assistance to users. Some of our jobs:

• help UI students, staff and the general public answer their questions and find information - from directions to a campus building to finding books and articles for a complex research paper
• help with web searching as well as finding information in printed books and articles
• provide face-to-face, phone and email assistance from our Information/Reference Desk on the 1st floor of the UI Library
• provide more in-depth help through the Research Assistance Program
• teach class sessions about library research
• help users find maps, air photos and other cartographic information
