UI Patent and Trademark Depository Library

The Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program (PTDLP) is administered by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The UI Library has been a member of the PTDLP since 1983. Services we provide:
  • One-on-one training and assistance in doing your own self-directed patent or trademark search. Please call ahead for an appointment.
  • Free use of  resources needed to do a patent or trademark search
  • Full-text of U.S. patents issued from 1790-present
  • Early USPTO publications for historical research
  • Reference materials including patent and trademark books helpful to independent inventors
