The Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program (PTDLP) is administered by the U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office (USPTO). The UI Library has been a member of the PTDLP since 1983. Services we provide:
- One-on-one training and assistance in doing your own self-directed patent or trademark search. Please call ahead for an
appointment.
- Free use of resources needed to do a patent or trademark search
- Full-text of U.S. patents issued from 1790-present
- Early USPTO publications for historical research
- Reference materials including patent and trademark books helpful to independent inventors
Library staff are happy to provide assistance with your search. However, we cannot perform searches, offer
legal advice, or answer questions of a legal nature.
