Publication/Exhibition Fees for Photographs
Fees (in addition to photofinishing costs) are charged for all
uses of photographic images. Fees may be waived for governmental
agencies or non-profit organizations, with IRS 501(C)(3) determination,
upon written request. Fees are subject to change without notice.
Income from publication/exhibition fees provide the primary funds
for the preservation of and access to the Historical Photograph
Collection.
Book Editions, Posters, Postcards, Calendars
- Minimum, 5000 or less.....$15.00 each
- 5001 or more.....50.00 each
Periodical Circulation
- Minimum, under 50 thousand.....$15.00 each
- Over 50 thousand.....25.00 each
Special Fees (in addition to any other required fees)
- Book jacket.....$25.00 each
- Exhibition or decorative display (offices, restaurants, stores)
.....$50.00 each
- Motion picture, television, video, or digital.....$100.00 each
- Advertising (per image).....$100.00 each
- On-site copying, by user, per hour ( one hour minimum).....$25.00
- Handling fee: extensive staff searches or special circumstances,
per hour (minimum).....$25.00
Conditions for Publication or Exhibition
- Written permission to publish or exhibit photographs must
be secured from the head of Special Collections and Archives Department
for each use. This permission is granted only for one-time use,
in one publication, exhibit, or activity, in one edition, and
in one language. Subsequent use of any sort requires specific
written permission and the payment of the requisite fees.
- Cropping or overprinting on any reproduction requires written
permission from the head of Special Collections and Archives Department.
- Before publication of any reproduction, the University of
Idaho Library reserves the right to require a proof prior to final
approval.
- The publisher shall furnish the University of Idaho Library,
without charge, one copy of publications in which reproductions
appear.
- Every effort should be made to secure and use correct caption
data.
- Each use of the materials MUST be accompanied by proper credit
to the University of Idaho Library and to the photographer or
creator (if known). Credit lines MUST include the negative or
ID number. Suggested wording for the credit line would be: #ID
, Historical Photograph Collection, University of Idaho Library,
Moscow, Idaho.
- The University of Idaho Library reserves the right to limit
the number of images copied; to restrict the use or reproduction
of rare or valuable material; and to levy special use fees in
unusual circumstances.
In granting permission for publication or other use, the University
of Idaho Library does not surrender its right to exhibit, publish,
or otherwise reproduce the materials, nor to grant permission
to others to do so. It is the user's responsibility to guard against
the infringement of rights that might be held by others. The University
of Idaho Library is not responsible for the improper or illegal
use of any copies of materials in its collections.
