Visitor's Guide
Visitors to Special
Collections are always welcome although it
is helpful if one writes or calls first. All inventories of
manuscript
and archival
groups have been converted to electronic
format and posted to the web site. The book collections and brief descriptions
of
the archival, manuscript, and historical photograph collections
are available through the library's
on-line catalog.
Special Collections is located on the first floor
of the University of Idaho Library
on Rayburn Street. It is open from Monday through Friday; for specific hours, closures, etc., see
Hours. Parking on campus requires a permit, available from the Parking and Information Services
office at 645 W. Pullman Highway. Specific directions
and a map
are available.
Established in 1889, before statehood, the University of Idaho
is a publicly supported, comprehensive, land-grant institution offering
a wide range of undergraduate programs. It is also the state's
primary institution for graduate education and research. In addition
to the Moscow campus, the university operates resident instructional
centers in Coeur d'Alene, Boise, and Idaho Falls, as well as facilities
for teaching, research, and service in Sandpoint, Parma, Caldwell,
Kimberly, Tetonia, Aberdeen, Dubois, McCall, Clark Fork, and at
Taylor Ranch, in the heart of the Idaho wilderness.
Motel and restaurant accommodations are available in Moscow
and in nearby Pullman, Washington, located in the beautiful rolling
hills of the Palouse Country.
Both cities are served by Horizon Air
at the Pullman/Moscow airport some eighty miles south of Spokane,
Washington. Washington State University,
a comprehensive land-grant university located in Pullman, is home
to the department of Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections,
which also holds primary source materials for research.
