Let's Talk About It, Idaho! Ron McFarland to lead discussion of "We Sagebrush Folks"

The final program in the Let’s Talk About It, Idaho book discussion series will be held Wednesday, March 20 at 7pm in the University of Idaho Library. Ron McFarland, professor of English at the University of Idaho, will lead a discussion of “We Sagebrush Folks” by Annie Pike Greenwood. Greenwood’s memoirchronicles her family’s experiences living in an Idaho farming community from 1906-1928. The book is a candid account of her initial optimism and eventual disillusionment with the harsh realities of frontier life and their adverse effects on women.

The book talks call attention to Idaho history as an historical milestone begins, the state’s territorial sesquicentennial year. The theme of this year’s readings and discussions, “Idaho at 150 – Sesquicentennial Days,” explores life in early Idaho and the challenges faced by people settling and developing the state. The University of Idaho Library is partnering with the Moscow Public Library to provide the talks, which bring adult readers together with humanities scholars to discuss fine literature.

The program will begin at 7pm and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
