UI Library to implement new Primo system in 2014

Changes are coming to the University of Idaho Library. At the end of 2013, the library will launch Primo, a new search system that strengthens the library’s ability to serve the research needs of University of Idaho students and faculty.

With Primo, UI Library users can search the collections of 36 other academic libraries across the Northwest, including the University of Washington, Washington State University, and the University of Oregon. The new system, which will replace WorldCat Local and Voyager, makes available more than 8.8 million titles and 26 million resources.

“The move to Primo is an exciting change that greatly expands our collections and makes it faster and easier to find and retrieve print and electronic resources,” said Ben Hunter, head of the library’s Cataloging and Collections department. “Primo will provide our university with a cutting edge library environment to facilitate teaching and learning now and in the years to come.”

Implementation of Primo has been set for early January, 2014. Contact Ben Hunter (bhunter@uidaho.edu) with questions.
