Mt Idaho May 2nd 1892

Kate – dear sister-
Parsons and Dick have just gone home. Your letters & Corts’ & Woods came while they were here. I wrote Robert Williams about Wadhams offer last week, and now all my scholars want to go to Portland and I cannot send all, and will not pick out two or three and leave the rest. It would be a fearful expense from May 14 to sometime in June perhaps. Robert Williams and all my scholars will start to Lapwai tomorrow (D.V.) and will see you there if God wills.

I gave Parsons a note to give you. Parsons is to see Woods (D.V.) and try to get permission to go to Portland. (He could go home to Spokans from GenAss with Cort) If he gets permission to go to Portland, I will pay his expenses (1/2 as Wadhams says offers) But not one world of that to any one remember. Do not hint one word to any one (save Robert Williams as a secret) about my paying Robert Parsons expenses remember or it will make trouble. I do this for Parsons only because he is going away into exile. Of course I pay Robert Williams expenses. He goes to Portland in my place. I wrote you that James Hayes was ‘Commissioner’ from Earl Greyon Presbytery which of course will pay his expenses. I have had Dick and Parsons understand clearly now so that they can tell my scholars that Wadhams only offers to pay one half of the expenses. They or somebody else would have to pay the other half. Have them understand this clearly if you speak to them about it. Some of them perhaps understood Wadham would pay all expenses all are keen to go and I would like so much if all could go. But I cannot afford to send all and I will not pick out 2 or 3 & leave the rest. I love them all & I would hurt those left, too much and make ‘takesh’ of the others. I hope Robert Williams will go, if God pleases.

But Trescott is to come for this letter may come any minute. I had a letter from Woods about like yours after you wrote to him. Your ought not to have said Miss Axtell to Charlie Monteiths pastor. That is the main trouble and then he is new to power of a presbyter. But God rules & Woods was just to Robert W.

Write as soon as you recieve this and tell me what will be expense of Robert Williams & Robert Parsons if they go and I will send check. God bless & guide you

Sister Sue
