Restriction Statement

The following stipulations appear in the deed of gift agreed between Senator McClure and the Regents of the University of Idaho, July 13, 1990.

Copyright in materials written by Senator McClure and his staff is retained by the Senator during his lifetime. Upon death of Senator McClure, copyright is transferred to the Regents of the University of Idaho.

Until January 2, 2016, the following classes of material may be opened for access only upon written consent of the Senator or his designee.

(a) Materials the disclosure of which would constitute an invasion of personal privacy or a libel of a living person.

(b) Materials relating to the personal, family, and confidential business affairs of the Senator or other persons.

(c) Materials relating to investigations of individuals and organizations, to proposed appointments to office, or to other personal matters affecting individual privacy which have not been otherwise published.

(d) Materials relating to the work of political consultants in campaigns.

(e) Materials which would adversely affect national security.

(f) Materials the release of which would violate federal or state law.

(g) Materials which include office financial accounting and personnel records.
