Title Title Yes Name of person pictured is used for the title. (The inforamtion is supplied by Laura Guedes LAIII, archiviest assistant. ) The term Unidentified person/persons is used when the people pictured are not known.
Title Alternative Title Alternative No For some of the IJC collections an alternative title was used for record labels when the item itself presented an alternative title. Otherwise the field is left blank.
Creator Creator Yes LCAF Name of photographer who took the photo if it was stamped on the back of the photo. Form of names are taken from LC authority file, input Last name, First name separate by
if more than one.
Publisher Publisher Yes Corporate name of photo studio. Supplied from stamp on the back of the photo.
Date Original Date Created Yes W3CDTF Date the photo was created. In some cases we used ca. YYYY for a date if we could determine an approximate time period if no date was provided. Input date as a 4-digit followed by Month and then Date. Exampe: 1985-05-25
Description Description Yes A brief description of the image describing what is in the photo or if a scrapbook or sheet music describing the contents of the scrapbook. For sheet music the AACR2R format for describing sheet music was used.
Subject Subject Yes LCSH; AAT Used LCSH from our local catalog and LC Authorities. If more than one set of terms was used then
separated them. Art & Architecture Thesarus was also consulted for describing the images.
Relation Relation No Is-Part-Of How the image relates to the collection as a whole. For example, Lionel Hampton Library Collection.
Contributing Institution Contributors No Who contributed the image to the collection. For example, International Jazz Collections.
Publisher Digital Publisher No Who created the digital image. For example, University of Idaho Library.
Source Source Yes Provides the user with the exact location of the physical item within the collection. For example, IJC MG 019, Box 06, Folder 068
Listing Code Identifier No A number that has followed the collection before the collection was assessioned by Archives and Special Collections.
Resource Identifier Identifier Yes A unique number that identifies the image. The number is made up of a series of letters and numbers that correspond to the collection and number assigned by the processing achivist. For example, LH.III.0342 = Lionel Hampton, Series 3, Photo number 0342.
Website No map No The URL for the corresponding hompage for the specific collection.
Type Type No DCMI Type Required by Dublin Core to describe the file type, information is supplied by Dublin Core. For example, Still Image or Audio.
Format Original Format Medium Yes Required by Dublin Core to describe the file format. For example, Color Photograph or Black and white negative.
Digitization Specifications No map No Describes the equipment, software and other information regarding the creation of the digital image. For example, 150 dpi, 24-bit depth, color, Epson Expression 1640 XL Scanner, Epson TWAIN Pro, Adobe Photoshop 7.0, Archival Master file is a TIFF.

Language Language No ISO 639-2 Indicates the intellectual content of the image.
Filename No map No Same as the resource identifier with the file extension indicating the type of image being loaded. For example, .jpg or .tiff
