Preservation Practices and Sustainability

All images are scanned as TIFFs and at varying resolutions depending on their size to obtain a minimum of 3000 ppi across the width of the image. See the Scanning Procedures for Digital Collections varying for resolutions.

TIFFs, JPEGs, PDFs, excel metadata files, text files, and XML files are then saved to an external 1 TB hard drive, burned to DVDs and stored in a climate controlled space. DVD's will be checked every three years for accessibility, and all information will be migrated, as necessary, and re-burned every five years to new media.
