UI Commencement in Moscow is May 13-Other Ceremonies in Idaho Falls, Boise and Coeur d'Alene

April 25, 2000^^CONTACT: Reta Pikowski, registrar, (208) 885-2020, retap@uidaho.edu or Jeff Olson, University Communications and Marketing, (208) 885-8934, jolson@uidaho.edu^^MOSCOW-The 105th University of Idaho Commencement in Moscow is May 13, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center. Nearly 1,400 students are candidates for degrees this spring on the Moscow campus. ^^Graduates, faculty and honored guests will gather at 8 a.m. at the Administration Building, then march across campus in a procession to the ceremony. ^^Elaine Ambrose, president of the UI Alumni Association, will be the commencement speaker. Marilyn Shuler, the former director of the Idaho Human Rights Commission, and Idaho native Rosalie Sorrels, a nationally known storyteller and folksinger, will receive honorary degrees. ^^Individual college ceremonies will follow throughout the day. The schedule includes:^^11:30 a.m. College of Engineering in Memorial Gym^^College of Natural Resources in the SUB Ballroom^^College of Letters and Science, and General Studies in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center^^College of Mines and Earth Resources in University Auditorium^^2 p.m. College of Agriculture in Memorial Gym^^College of Art and Architecture in the SUB Ballroom^^College of Business and Economics in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center^^4 p.m. College of Education in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center^^College of Law in Memorial Gym ^^UI also will hold commencement ceremonies at three locations around the state in May. The UI Idaho Falls commencement takes place May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Willard Performing Arts Center. UI commencement in Boise is scheduled for May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Timberline High School Auditorium. A ceremony for University of Idaho students in Coeur d'Alene will be held May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Idaho College Auditorium. The statewide ceremonies will honor students who have earned their undergraduate and graduate degrees by doing all or part of their coursework at those locations.^^Statewide, more than 1,500 UI students are candidates for degrees this spring. Including students honored at winter commencement ceremonies in December, the total number of degrees awarded by the UI for the 1999-2000 academic year totals 2,467. ^^--30-- JO 4/25/00^
