University of Idaho Library Government Documents Timeline (HTML)

On April 13, 2007 the UI Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary as a federal depository library, one of 65 land-grant university libraries that were designated in the 1907 Printing Act. Over the course of this past century, we have provided free access to federal government information for the University of Idaho community as well as throughout the state. The collection consists of more than 675,000 paper documents, 800,000 microforms, 200,000 maps, 7,500 CD-ROMs, and more than 25,000 online publications. This comprehensive and unique collection offers free access to more than 1.7 million items to all users. Unconstrained access to federal documents helps to inform and empower students to become better citizens. The Government Documents Department and the Patent and Trademark Depository of the UI Library are the Federal Regional Depository for the state of Idaho and closely cooperate with nine selective depositories, including public libraries, academic libraries, and law libraries in serving the Idaho state community.
