Records, 1939-1941
0.5 cubic feet

The records of the Doro Mining Company are part of the records of Day Mines, Inc., donated to the University of Idaho by Henry Day in 1984 and 1985. Initial processing of this manuscript group was done by Dixie Miller in March 1988, with funds provided by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission. Processing was completed by Judith Nielsen in July 1992.

COMPANY HISTORY

The Doro Company was a partnership of Clarence I. Paulsen, Howard C. Paulsen, Harry L. Day, and Henry L. Day, formed in the summer of 1939 to search for a drag-line dredging property in northern Idaho or western Montana. The principal project was a test by shafting of property of the Independence Placer Co. along Moose Creek, on the Clearwater National Forest, Idaho. Clarence Paulsen managed the field work of the Doro Company. As no suitable properties were located, the partnership was apparently dissolved during the winter of 1939-1940.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The records of the Doro Mining Company span the years 1939 to 1941, with the bulk of the material covering the years 1939 to 1940. Included are financial statements, correspondence with the mining engineer in charge of the property, vouchers, voucher and check registers, tax returns, and personnel records.

ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION

The records of the Doro Mining Company are divided into three series.

General Correspondence and Related Records, the first series, contains letters, reports on mining properties, federal tax returns, financial statements, insurance records, telegrams, and other records. Material is arranged alphabetically by correspondent or subject.

The second series, Financial Records, contains vouchers, a voucher register, orders for supplies, a check register with distribution of expenses, closing statement, and other records regarding compensation due Clarence Paulsen from the Doro partnership, and worksheets for financial statements on testing costs.

Personnel Records, the third series, includes a time book, compensation and payroll records and employee information cards.
