Photo text: 'Result of 1910 fires. A view at the lower end of the Big Creek valley. This entire bottom was submerged during the spring freshet of 1938. Beaver dams which tended to hold back excessive stream flow in normal year were swept away. Many changes in the stream channel took place over night. Silt and gravel was carried downstream in enormous quantities. Thousands of dollars damage was done to highways, railroads, and building below.'
