Photo text: 'A burned watershed. The denuded mountain sides of the Big Creek watershed burned in 1920 do not tend to retard the runoff from the melting snow. Spring freshets which sweep the valley deposit silt, gravel, and down timber along the bottoms, causing unforeseen changes in the stream channel.'
