Doc Cheatham wears an olive green cap, black-rimmed glasses, bolo tie, light blue dress shirt, black suit jacket, dark grey slacks, black shiny dress shoes, and holds a black cane in his right hand. He stands outside of the Savannah Old City Hall in Savannah, GA and looks to the right. In his left hand is a Key to the City of Savannah on blue velvet backing. Cheatham received the key in 1996 with fellow musicians James Moody (1925-2010), Jon Faddis (1953-), and Irene Reid (1930-2008). Behind Cheatham are stone steps with a black railing and a stone pillar. On the pillar is the Savannah Historical Marker, commemorating the first steamship to cross the ocean.
