Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to bring you, the reader, into my journey of growth and change and inform the discipline of supervision through understanding the unique concept of relationship. To this end, the experience of four individuals is studied through qualitative methods. Each individual holds a unique position in the stories shared. Exploration of the role of supervisor, supervisee and client and how these roles influence not only their relationship but how this relationship influences growth and change are the focus of the data. Several important themes to both supervision and therapy are identified and studied in the stories. These include reflective practice, competency and the concept of recovery. As a participant reader you may find that you identify other themes as you join the journey and add depth to the fabric of your life.
