“Even the Parts I Promised to Myself” is a collection of poems that considers the cost of honesty—with oneself, one’s intimates, and the world. The poems are shaped by the culture and landscape of the Mountain West as they consider loss, desire, power, and violence. Voice is the engine of the poems, and it draws readers close to the nerve of the collection.
