March 30 - Idaho Commons Whitewater Room
Abstract: This presentation is designed to exam, in an introductory way, how the knowledge of language and particularly its prehistory, can illuminate our knowledge of cultural or physical prehistory (i.e., archeology). If we know what the speakers of a proto-language, an abstract entity outside of both time and space, talked about, can we connect it with a particular archeological culture, firmly root in both time and space, but mute.
