Description:
Scandinavian countries rank high in the World Happiness Survey. Does their internationally respected architecture contribute to their nations’ well-being? In February 2020, University of Idaho Prof. Phillip Mead traveled to Finland and Denmark during the most miserable time of the year to explore how their designs compensate. In this talk, Mead shows examples of architecture that might contribute to healthy populations and describes how positive psychologist Martin Seligman’s five pillars of flourishing may influence architecture's contribution to environmental well-being.
