- Photo of newspaper photo and caption: Early Home - Alphous Jones, who was one of the first settlers of the Palouse River Valley, constructed this home in 1883-84 in the community of Starner, now called Hampton. The first post office was located in Starner, but it was moved to Princeton, a half mile further east. The home is now owned by Zelma Layton, great-granddaughter of Jones.
