Benny and Mary Anne Blick To Receive UI’s Jim Lyle Award at Jan. 31 Event

Jan. 2, 2002^MOSCOW – Benny and Mary Anne Blick of Castleford will be presented with the University of Idaho Jim Lyle Award at a ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 31, in Twin Falls.^ The “Winterfest” gathering, sponsored by the Magic Valley chapter of the Vandal Scholarship Fund and the UI Alumni Association, will take place at the Turf Club, 734 Falls Avenue. The social is at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. The menu includes steak and fish. Cost is $25 per person, and $40 per couple. The gathering will feature UI’s Mike Bohn, director of Athletics, and Harold Gibson, director of Alumni Relations.^ The Jim Lyle Award recognizes a living individual or couple who has shown long-term dedication and service to the university and Alumni Association through volunteerism. ^More than 35 years ago, Benny helped create the Buhl Pig-out. The summer picnic and community barbecue event now includes more than 300 participants, and raises over $20,000 for UI athletic scholarships. Also, the couple, along with son, Jeff, have assisted and directed a multitude of activities that bring UI alumni and friends together in the Twin Falls area.^Benny, a ’65 graduate, has served on the national board of directors of the Vandal Scholarship Fund.
