Many different events make up an inauguration, which is highlighted by a ceremonial installation. The installation for Dr. M. Duane Nellis takes place on Friday, October 16, at 10 a.m. in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center.
During the ceremony, President M. Duane Nellis will be presented with the university's symbols (formally endowed with the responsibilities and powers) of the office of the president, the University mace and President’s Medallion. Several representatives from University constituencies will deliver remarks and President M. Duane Nellis will speak about his vision for the University of Idaho's future. The theme for the inauguration is: Honoring Our Legacy of Leadership: Past, Present and Future.
Among those expected to attend the inauguration include statewide University of Idaho community members; delegates from national educational, professional, honor and other societies; delegates and representatives from colleges and universities from across the nation; local, state and national civic, community and elected officials; and other guests.
A University reception will be held in the Student Union Ballroom following the inauguration.
