Jazz Pianist-in-Residence Tom Lyons to Perform Nov. 5 at UI

Oct. 31, 2002^MOSCOW — Jazz pianist Tom Lyons will present a concert Nov. 5 at the University of Idaho as part of the Lionel Hampton School of Music’s Knickerbocker Artist-in-Residence Series. Trumpeter and UI music professor Robert McCurdy will join Lyons on stage. The concert is at 8 p.m. in the School of Music Recital Hall.^General admission tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens and sold at the door. Advance reserved seating is available for $7 by contacting the School of Music at (208) 885-6231.^As the first Paula Knickerbocker Jazz Pianist-in-Residence at UI, Lyons teaches jazz piano and presents master classes in composition, music business and jazz piano at two-week intervals during the semester. ^A native of Kellogg, Lyons received his bachelor’s degree in music education at UI and a master’s degree from the University of Iowa. He currently is bandleader at Circus-Circus Resorts in Las Vegas, Nev., and relief conductor-pianist at the Sahara Hotel.
