Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival Student Competition Results for Feb. 24

MOSCOW, IDAHO - High school bands and combos were featured on the final day of student performances at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho. The day’s activities featured more than 375 high school and secondary school bands and combos and soloists. Groups from across the western U.S. and Canada performed for adjudicator’s to earn recognition. Outstanding student group and soloists were announced at the Young Instrumental Artists Concert in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center. The outstanding instrumental soloists were featured as a group during the Avista Giants of Jazz Concert, Saturday evening in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center. The young musicians shared the stage with the likes of jazz artists John Clayton, Russell Malone, Benny Green, Jeff Hamilton and the Lionel Hampton New York Big Band.
