Groups from across the U. S. and Canada performed to earn Outstanding Young Artist awards.^ Student winners were announced at the Avista Outstanding Young Instrumental Artists Concert in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center. Megan La Porte, Arts and Communication Magnet Academy^The 15 outstanding instumental soloists performed as a group during the Lionel Hampton Giants of Jazz Concert, Saturday evening in the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center. The young musicians shared the stage with the likes of jazz artists John Clayton, Russell Malone, Benny Green and Jeff Hamilton.^During the day, the young musicians were able to attend clinics by The Four Freshmen, trumpeter and vocalist Byron Stripling and guitarist Corey Christiansen.^^ -30-^jo—2/27/04^^^^
