Paul Michaud Joins UI as Assistant Vice President for Human Resources

Dec. 13, 2005 MOSCOW- Idaho – Paul Michaud has been named to lead the Human Resources Department at the University of Idaho. As assistant vice president for Human Resources, Michaud oversees compensation, benefits, employee relations, employment, organization development and human resource information systems. He will begin his duties on Jan. 2. “Paul is an accomplished HR professional. I am confident his strong leadership qualities and proven ability to get things done will take the Human Resources team to new heights and help move the University of Idaho forward,” said David Chichester, vice president for Finance and Administration. Michaud comes to UI from Florida International University in Miami where he was assistant vice president and chief human resources officer since 2002. He has more than 26 years of experience in human resource management in higher education at the University of Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois University, Clemson University, Central Michigan University and Marshall University. “My family and I look forward to being a part of the University of Idaho and Moscow communities,” said Michaud. “We are excited about living in a small town environment where you can get to know people and develop a connection with the community.” Michaud looks forward to the transition. “My wife, Maureen, and I are originally from Maine,” he said on a snowy day in Moscow. “We’re especially looking forward to Idaho after going through nine hurricanes in the last three years in Miami.” Michaud received a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s in business administration from the University of Maine, a master’s degree in higher education administration from Iowa State University and a Ph.D, all but dissertation, in leadership education from Clemson University.
