UI Bookstore Plans Celebration for Anxious Harry Potter Fans

July 8, 2005 MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Bookstore will be open during the wee hours Saturday, July 16 to unveil the latest installment in the Harry Potter series. Doors open at 10 p.m. Friday, July 15. The book will be available at approximately 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 16. The event is one of many at bookstores across the nation celebrating the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” by J.K. Rowling. It is the sixth book in the series. Around 10.8 million copies will be printed for the July 16 debut. This is one of the largest publications of a hardcover release in the United States. The “Stroke of Midnight Party” at the UI Bookstore will feature games, contests, prizes and a book discount on the “Half-Blood Prince.” Participants are encouraged to wear costumes relating to the Harry Potter theme. Bookstore staff also will be in costume. A DVD will be shown at the celebration containing an excerpt from a live recording of Rowling reading from “Order of the Phoenix.” Thirty copies have already been reserved at the UI Bookstore.
