UI Poet Robert Wrigley Reads New Poems Oct. 1

Sept. 22, 2003^MOSCOW – University of Idaho poet and professor Robert Wrigley will present his newest work at a public reading Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the College of Law Courtroom.^ Wrigley has written a new collection of poems, “Lives of the Animals,” published as part of the Penguin Poets Series by Penguin Books. ^Wrigley received his third Pushcart Prize for the featured poem, “The Church of Omnivorous Light.” He wrote the poem after a walk on Moscow Mountain when he discovered a crowd of magpies and ravens feasting on a deer that had been shot and gutted. “The poem is about one of those little moments we all have when we recognize mortality – the world’s, all living things, and our own,” Wrigley said.^Wrigley is the director of the MFA creative writing program at the University of Idaho. He is a recipient of the prestigious national Kingsley Tufts Award.
