Nov. 21, 2000^MOSCOW — University of Idaho "Potato Heads" won School of the Year, Residence Hall President of the Year, and Program of the Year at the November 2000 Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls Conference in Provo, Utah. UI's Residence Hall Association sponsored 17 delegates representing many of UI's 23 living-and-learning communities. They competed with similar-size schools in Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and two Canadian provinces.^This is the second year in a row the UI Vandal Chapter of IACURH won “School of the Year.” Using the “Mr. Potato Head” theme, the UI students created a 50-page booklet describing all aspects of residence hall life and activities. They coordinated such activities as dances, recognitions and residence hall member involvement in UI's "living-learning" environment.^Kim Wilson, UI sophomore from Troy, was named chapter President of the Year, based on her bid as “Tigger for President” as well as her accomplishments since elected. Chris Peabody and Katie Howard, two program coordinators for the Residence Life staff, won Program of the Year for a "Paint the Palouse 2000" campuswide community service project, using a “Robin Hood” theme.^"These awards are especially gratifying to all of us at a university that strives to be a residential campus of choice in the west," said UI President Bob Hoover. "Obviously the vigor and creativity of an involved student body and professional staff speak for themselves with these regional recognitions."^The above awards now are forwarded to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls for national competition on the University of Southern California campus in the spring (2001).^Hometowners: The following are the 17 UI participating representatives:^Joey Hutcherson-Kodiak, AK^Chris Peabody-Ketchikan, AK^Rachel Christoffersen-Truckee, CA^Kim Wilson-Troy, ID^Chris Walker-Meridian, ID^Kelly Holt-Star, ID^Joe McKenna-Coeur d' Alene, ID^Katie Howard-Moscow, ID^Jennifer Dion- Caldwell, ID^Megan Miller- Idaho Falls, ID^Kari Miller- Twin Falls, ID^TJ Bush-West Linn, OR^Megan McLean-Cle Elum, WA^Ruth Ann Hultman-Veradale, WA^Colter Menke-Greybull, WY^CONTACTS: Gretchen Kirchmann, University Residences Marketing, (208) 885-7883, gretchen@resnet.uidaho.edu; Kim Wilson, chapter president, (208) 885-5948, wils4228@uidaho.edu; or Nancy Hilliard, University Communications, (208) 885-6567, hilliard@uidaho.edu^-30-^NH-11/21/00^STS^
