UI Vandaleer Concert Choir and University Chorus Usher In Spring With Performance April 28

April 24, 2002^MOSCOW – The University of Idaho Vandaleer Concert Choir and University Chorus will present a spring concert on Sunday, April 28, at 4 p.m. in the University Auditorium. ^The concert will be under the direction of Mark E. Fisch, director of choral activities in the Lionel Hampton School of Music at UI.^The first portion of the concert will showcase the Vandaleers performing sacred and secular works across the ages, including Ernest Bloch’s meditative “Silent Devotion and Response” and Larry Farrow’s popular “Jamaican Market Place.” ^University Chorus opens the second half of the program with compositions by Felix Mendelssohn, including “Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord” and “Hear My Prayer.” ^The University Chorus will continue with a selection of Americana tunes such as “Seventy-six Trombones” and “Lida Rose.” This portion of the program will feature UI’s barbershop quarter, The Hampsters, joined by Heather Hillstead.^The program also will include a patriotic theme with “So Many Voices Sing America’s Song,” featuring baritone J. Cameron Littlefield, voice faculty member and director of the opera workshop in the Lionel Hampton School of Music.^At the end of the evening, the Vandaleer Concert Choir will share the stage with the University Choir for a rendition of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” arranged by Peter J. Wilhousky.^Admission to the concert is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under, students and senior citizens.^-30-^Contact: Mark E.
