MOSCOW, Idaho – The following is a list of University of Idaho sponsored event for the week of Feb.1-7. Events will take place in Moscow and Boise, and are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
Monday, Feb. 1

The Latah County Vandal Boosters invites everyone to attend their weekly luncheon. Tickets are $10 at the door. Proceeds help support the Vandal Scholarship Fund.
Tuesday, Feb. 2
Lincoln, The Great Emancipator as Lawyer: How a Railroad Lawyer Put 4 Million People on the Freedom Train

Paul Finkelman, professor of law at Albany Law School and a specialist in American legal history, race and the law, will present this lecture. Finkelman is the author of more than 100 scholarly articles and more than 20 books. He is an expert in areas such as the law of slavery, constitutional law and legal issues surrounding baseball. He was a Fellow in Law and the Humanities at Harvard Law School and received his doctorate and master of arts degree from the University of Chicago. He has published extensively and was the chief expert witness in the Alabama Ten Commandments monument case. His scholarship on religious monuments in public space was cited by the U.S. Supreme Court in Van Orden v. Perry (2005). He was also a key witness in the suit over who owned Barry Bonds' 73rd home run ball. His work on legal history and constitutional law has been cited by numerous courts and in many appellate briefs. Lunch and Lead Seminar: "Triple Bottom Line: Why Does Sustainability Matter?"

The University of Idaho Boise center will offer practical solutions for businesses that want to make a commitment to sustainability and improve their bottom line. For this week's seminar, University of Idaho College of Business and Economics Dean Jack Morris will discuss the "Triple Bottom Line: Why Does Sustainability Matter?" The monthly brown bag presentations are part of the Lunch and Lead: Sustainable Business Practices series; the series runs February through December. Subsequent events take place on the first Thursday of each month. All brown bag gatherings are free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested at professionaldev@uidaho.edu or (208) 334-2999. Drinks and cookies are provided; attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

The Vagina Monologues

The award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues," is based on playwright Eve Ensler's interviews with more than 200 women. She wrote the piece to celebrate women’s sexuality and strength, and to give voice to experiences and feelings that had never before been expressed in public. From the play grew a grassroots movement – V-Day – aimed at stopping violence against women and girls. Tickets are $8 in advance from the University of Idaho Women's Center and Book People of Moscow, or $10 at the door.
