Forced Removal of Fellow Residents in Po [1] City
According to what is reported in the Po [2] City newspaper, construction has already been started by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in the State LiveStock Fair Ground several miles away from Vancouver Bridge outside of the city for the facilities to incarcerate fellow citizens living in the Portland region. The plan is to build dormitories for single people and single-family barracks for families by April 15th. It is reported that everything including meals are to be provided by the government. This is how the entire population of fellow citizens living in the U.S. will be incarcerated in designated locations for a duration of time as a wartime policy.
Buddhist Memorial Service
A Buddhist memorial service for Mrs. Inosuke Takao was held at 2 p.m. in the 19th meeting room. It was attended by a lot of people, and the service was conducted solemnly and yet modestly.

Mr. Masuoka read a message of condolence on behalf of the people from Oregon. In his sermon, Missionary Nishi talked about the late Finance Minister Takahashi when he was attacked by intruders one night. He was wearing his pajamas but asked the intruders to give him some time to change his clothes as it is a shame for a publically notable figure to die in sleeping garments. He changed into formal attire and then let the intruders kill him, and the state of his mind was back with his Buddhist belief. This was deeply moving for all of us as we compared our current situation to the story.
