May 1 (Friday)

We were told by regulation to bring our beds and bedding out and place them under the sun to dry out. Inspection was done by the officers. The inspection result was reported in the evening, and they said The way we clean around the tents is unsatisfactory, thus another general inspection will be conducted tomorrow. The Weather was nice today.

May 2 (Saturday) Inspection was conducted in the morning. According to the report issued yesterday, we need to be respectful toward the officers. We were ordered to line up in front of our tents and were waiting for the officers to show up.

Wind started to pick up again in the afternoon. We are so fed up with sand storms.

First delivery of the items we purchased was made. Payments are to be debited from our money held by the authorities.

We have been engaged in some sort of tasks by the rules in the camp ever since we were interned in this camp. It is a pity to have more than ten elders in their fifties digging trenches and transporting hay under the watch of the armed guards in scorching heat. According to the report in the evening, the result of the general inspection conducted today was acceptable. Although, mowing, or rather weeding by hands around the tents is not something I am willing to do. We requested equipment but were told to do to manually as they do not possess any equipment for the task.
