Mr. Sakimura reported as follows in the evening.
- As for the blanket order previously placed, wool blankets are not available in spite of various attempts made by the military administration.

An order for cotton blankets is to be placed, and those who wish to receive one should immediately notary them. (We requested more extra blankets when the winter weather settled down as there is no way that the elders can stay warm with only what has been provided. Our request was rejected as they pointed out that the American soldiers who were staying in the facility are satisfied with exactly what we have. We responded that the majority of the internees are elderly, but they initially told us to purchase extra blankets with our money)

Surplus produce harvested in the vegetable filed as a result of our cultivation program can be sold outside, and the proceeds can be used to meet our needs in the camp.

Supervising officer of the internee camp Colonel Dunn has been promoted to be Brigadier General and transferred to Texas. The leaders committee (of representatives from each small area) adopted the plan to solicit donations (coupons) from each internees, purchase some craft work created by internees and present it to him to express our gratitude for his services. Donations will be collected soon.
Above are the main items reported, but I have to say that the last item about presenting a gift is a poor decision made without our consensus. It does not make any sense for us internees to be satisfied with the condition we have been under until now and to express our gratitude.

It also works against the protest the Japanese government is lodging against the treatment of us internees through mutual nations and the U.S. Red Cross, and betrays its effort to voice objections to the inhumane approach made by the U.S. government. It does not matter if we save the face of our representatives or not. This is a matter at the national level. It is obvious that they will use the gift to their advantage. We definitely should resolve such a leader committee full of stupid fellows with no brain. It is extremely dangerous to have them as they are not even able to recognize such significant problems. There are quite a few educated people among us, I expect some of the internees will voice their objections.
