Description:
General view of Ames Creek clear-cutting with alternate western white pine shelterwood strips DCEF, Idaho. Cutting made in 1935. All merchantable meterial cut in clear-cut strips and the remainder felled and area broadcast burned in fall of 1936. In shelterwood strips about half the white pine volume was logged leaving about 20 M feet per acre. Trees of other species, mostly a hemlock understory, were removed in a stand improvement operation. Clear-cut strips are about 400 feet wide and shelterwood strips about 260 feet. Natural regeneration is expected. Taken 8-7-38.
