Rexford Daubenmire, Botanist Washington State University, developed the system of habitat typing in the northern Rocky Mountains to predict site characteristics, site quality, and potential climax vegetation. He conducted training for Forest Service personnel in the identification of climax vegetation and use of habitat types for forest management.
