Title:
Yellow (ponderosa) pine planting site looking south
Photographer:
Rockwell, Frank I.
Date Created:
1911
Description:
From Larsen's progress report of the status of the yellow (ponderosa) pine source of seed study, installed in 1911 on what is now part of the Benton nursery at the Priest River EF. Interesting as a historical background of the project and photos of the site in 1911, 1915, and 1917. The site still exists and is now known as plot 162, the ponderosa pine racial variation plot. The site is now the Benton nursery, still in use today. This photo shows the planting site, looking south. Caption reads: "Plate I, Benton Flat Looking South, 1911. Before removing the scattered small trees and brush previous to planting."
