Plate XVI caption: "Meteorological station on southwest slope, Priest River Experimental Station." Notice presence of yellow pine seedlings in the foreground and tall spires of fire-killed larch and the dense stand of young larch on the bench beyond; on northerly slope in the background well stocked stand of white pine, Douglas fir and larch. These three sites represent the three most important types of the region, the dry yellow pine and Douglas fir type of the southwest slopes, the intermediate larch type of the more or less dry bench land, and the white pine type of the moist northerly slopes.
