Original Description:
It was both a CCC camp and a BRC camp. After this photo appeared in the PR Times, ex-Forest Service employees called to say the camp was never a headquarters (Lee White and Quentin Larson). White identified the photographer and dated the picture by the size of the trees in the foreground. They were planted after the fire of 1926 swept through the area. The camp began as a CCC camp in 1933 or '34 and became the Blister Rust Control Headquarters in 1936. The program was then administered by the Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine. The Forest Service took over the program after 1950, program phased out in 1967. Larson said that when he was there as a CCC enrollee there were two warehouses at the right by the docks. One held a boat, the Clear Joe, built by Cap Markham. The money to build the boat came from the St. Joe and Clearwater Forests' budgets, hence the name
