It was announced that a part of the internees are to be transferred. 150 single people are to be sent to Santa Fe in New Mexico, and 39 people will be transferred to the family center. My name is on the single fellow list. Both Mr. Higashi [Azuma?] and Mr. Matsuura from our Portland group, Mr. Nakamichi (Wapato) in the fifth unit and elder Okamiya (Los Angeles, California) are in the single only group.
The majority of the group bound to the family center is from Hawaii, and their families were just transferred and incarcerated in a hotel in Monterey in North Carolina last August.
According to some information we received this evening from a trusted source, a decision was made to move the internees under military control, confirm the legality of our detention and had over the jurisdiction back to the immigration bureau under the Department of Justice.

As a result, we are to be divided between the single category and the group bound to the family center, and all the internees are to be transferred accordingly leaving this camp behind. Therefore, it is assumed that the Santa Fe camp we are getting settled in is to detain only single folks. It is also said that those who rejected to be reunited with the family might be considered as single and be transferred to the same facility with the others.
Someone who lived in Santa Fe for a long time told us that the city is located on a high altitude of several thousand feet high. It is fairly cold in the winter, and it is just average summer climate in the summer. It does not get extremely cold as it does here, and the city offers mild and suitable climate conditions for your health. I hear the air is dry and assume it would be a welcoming location for me.
