Kate and Sue McBeth, Missionary Teachers to the Nez Perce
Ministers and Agents
These letters provide additional perspective on the McBeth sisters. The
writers, (ministers and government agents), are often critical of the sisters
personalities and tactics (particularly Sue's) but maintain a generally supportive
attitude toward the importance of their work. Of special interest are C. E. Monteith's
letter of July 21, 1885 and Dr. Ellinwood’s report dated September 9, 1885.
