- A small patch of green timber that survived the widespread devastation of the 1926 and 1939 burns. Following a timber sale in 1955-1956, this area was treated with a prescribed burn in the fall of 1958.

- A note on the back of the original photograph, held by the Forest Service in Coeur d'Alene, identifies the location as Kalispell and Deerhorn Flats.
