We all are happy to hear that Mr. Tsuboi, who is hospitalized in the Main Hospital, is making a steady recovery and to be discharged in the near future. We heard that everyone is concerned about Mr. Muon [1] Fujioka while he is still struggling over his health issues without improvement. Someone, who is seventy-one years old, suffered from a bad cold right after arriving from Tacoma. He was feared to develop pneumonia and got hospitalized, and it is said that he is in a critical condition. He was in good health right before he got detained but was not provided with a bed on the train on the way to be sent here. He was forced to endure a sleepless long journey, ended up getting a cold, and that is how he got sick.

According to The Daily Missoulian we received this morning, the United States has declared a shortage of sugar since the beginning of the war and does not have other options but to place control over its sugar consumption. Last year in 1941, a total of 7,500,000 tons of sugar was consumed by the entire population of the nation, and this year’s consumption is to be controlled down to 4,000,000 tons. 1,000,000 tons of sugar to be produced in the Philippines is not attainable now, and supply from Hawaii is also cut off due to a labor shortage. It is reported that the supply of refined products from Cuba is not large enough to satisfy the entire needs of the nation.
