- Original Description:
- Story written up for the Feb. 1933 edition of Outdoor Life. This was the second bear killed, the one that almost killed Billings. Photo bears the following inscription on the back written by Billings: "Clarence Sutliff with grizzly bear killed by himself, myself and Neil Meyer: may 26, 1921. 5 fatal shots out of 7 hits. 303 Savage, 30-30 Winchester, 32 Remington pump. This is the bear that jumped me. Hughes Meadows, Boundary Co., Ida." Marilyn Cork wrote a "Pot Pourri" column about this event for the Oct. 14, 1987 edition of the Priest River Times.
